In november 2020 publiceerden Zwitserse artsen voor milieubescherming (AefU) een rapport waarin zij stelden: “De ontwikkeling van mobiele telefonie baart ons, artsen voor milieubescherming (AefU), zorgen. Onze “Werkgroep Elektromagnetische Velden en Gezondheid” volgt al jaren onderzoeken naar de invloed van niet-ioniserende straling (NIS) op de gezondheid. We onderhouden contacten met onderzoekers en autoriteiten.” Het in 2008 opgerichte AefU-project “Environmental Medical Advisory Network” pleit voor voorzorg, lagere grenswaarden, continu onderzoek en voorlichting over de risico’s van mobiele communicatie. Diezelfde maand hebben meer dan 3.500 medische experts en gezondheidswerkers wereldwijd hun bezorgdheid geuit over de gezondheidseffecten van de toenemende blootstelling aan straling. In een persbericht verklaren zij dat zij zich met name zorgen maken over de straling van mobiele telefonie, wifi en 5G. Enkele risico’s die zij benoemen zijn: kanker, cellulaire stress, toename van schadelijke radicalen, DNA-schade, structurele en functionele veranderingen van het voortplantingssysteem, leer- en geheugenstoornissen en neurologische aandoeningen.
