It is evil how America used cannabis to systematically incarcerate black and brown people. Lives, families and dreams destroyed by this “remix” of slavery in America. While white Americans are now enjoying the financial benefits of the cannabis industry and many black people are “still” incarcerated for cannabis possession.

All because racists such as Harry Anslinger, a United States government official who served as the first commissioner of the U.S. Treasury Department’s Federal Bureau of Narcotics during the presidencies of Hoover, Roosevelt, Truman, Eisenhower, and Kennedy.

Yet cannabis/ hemp is more “American” than baseball or apple pie.

The Smithsonian Institute confirmed the following U. S. presidents as marijuana users:

    George Washington
    Thomas Jefferson
    James Madison
    James Monroe
    Andrew Jackson
    Zachary Taylor
    Franklin Pierce

Prior to the Civil War, cannabis was a very successful drug when used to cure insomnia and impotence. It was used primarily to reduce tension.

“Early letters from our founding fathers often refer to the pleasures of hemp smoking,” said Dr. Burke. There are even references to it in the Congressional Records. Marijuana never became a commercial industry because the plant was too easy to grow.

George Washington, James Madison, and Thomas Jefferson all cultivated weed on their plantations. Washington is said to have preferred a good pipeful of the “leaves of hemp” to any alcoholic drink.

James Madison once said that had it not been for hemp, he would not have had the insights he had in the work of creating a new and democratic nation.

The Declaration of Independence was drafted on Hemp paper by our founding fathers and the very first American flag sewn by Betsy Ross was on hemp fabric.

America STILL owes black people reparations to the tune of $30+ trillion dollars, we as a people should be grandfathered into the cannabis business with mandatory 75% ownership of all cannabis farms, dispensaries, distribution and packaged goods in the United States…as a start.
