Deze keer stuitten we op een werkelijk unieke plek: een kasteel dat zo oud is als de tijd zelf, doorgegeven door generaties van een familie die hier al eeuwenlang woont. Als je aan Franse kastelen denkt, denk je misschien aan grandeur en luxe, maar dit kasteel is anders. De familie was boer en het interieur voelt meer als een eenvoudig, bewoond huis. Het is een kasteel zoals we nog nooit eerder hebben gezien. Terwijl we het kasteel verkenden, ontdekten we een geschiedenis die even tragisch als boeiend is. Agnes, de laatste van haar familie die hier woonde, verbleef in dit kasteel tot 2012, toen ze overleed op de opmerkelijke leeftijd van 98. Haar laatste jaren bracht ze alleen door in de enorme, galmende hallen, omringd door herinneringen. Maar onder wat een vredig leven leek, ligt een schaduw die nooit helemaal is opgetrokken. Vele jaren geleden werden Agnes en haar man René geconfronteerd met een verwoestend verlies. Hun zoon, Sebastian, was pas 11 jaar oud toen zijn leven tragisch werd afgebroken. Tijdens wat een routinematige wandeling naar school had moeten zijn, werd hij aangereden door een auto en ondanks hun beste inspanningen overleefde hij het niet.
