Obwohl man mitten in Deutschland ist, hat man das Gefühl, gerade den Niederlanden betreten zu haben. Und der Eindruck kommt auch nicht von irgendwoher. Denn das kleine Städtchen Friedrichsstadt wurde tatsächlich von Niederländern gegründet und sie entwickelte sich über die Jahrhunderte zu einem Hotspot für niederländische Auswanderer. Und diese brachten nicht nur ihre Architektur, sondern auch ihren Glauben, ihre Traditionen und ihre Sprache. Bis heute sprechen dort zahlreiche Menschen Niederländisch und es entstand eine ziemlich einzigartige Mischung der Kulturen. Und so trägt das kleine Städtchen heute den Beinamen Holländerstadt.
